7. Jenny Slate learns about her firing on the internet

In the 2009-2010 seasons of SNL, comedian Jenny Slate was one of the funniest performers. Some notable impressions included Lady Gaga and Kristen Stewart. Slate had what it took to stick around SNL for years, but an unfortunate mistake led to an early termination from the show.

The worst part of this major gaffe? It happened during Slate’s very first sketch on the show. In a sketch the comedian wrote herself called “Biker Chick Chat”, Slate accidentally lets the F-word slip. While this is edited out of reruns and future broadcasts, it is heard live when it was first uttered. Despite being confident in doing her own material, Slate screwed up big time.

They did give her some time to finish a run on the show. Slate finished the season but her contract was not renewed and she was fired from the show. The worst part is that Lorne Michaels never told Slate personally she was being let go. She found out at the same time as the rest of us when she read it online.

But the comedian didn’t let this incident stop her career. She went on to appear in many TV shows and feature films.
