Best SNL cast member from each state

Kenan Thompson (Georgia)

As mentioned in the previous entry, Kenan Thompson is a longtime member of the Saturday Night Live cast and the one to beat Darrell Hammond’s record for the most celebrity impressions on the series (currently holding 122). Having served 13 seasons on the series so far, he will likely soon beat Hammond’s record for the longest tenure on the show, as well. Needless to say, Thompson is a very important part of SNL‘s history.

90s kids will always know Kenan for his stints on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy shows All That and Kenan and Kel, and it was not surprising at all to see him land the gig on SNL. While he auditioned with his longtime Nickelodeon partner Kel Mitchell, whom he also appeared in the feature film Good Burger with, only Thompson was hired, but he quickly made himself at home on the show.

But long before Thompson would appear on All That and subsequently Saturday Night Live, he was a normal kid from Atlanta, Georgia, with aspirations of becoming an actor. It was while he was in high school when he started working on his first movie, D2: The Mighty Ducks. This would lead to his Nickelodeon casting and the rest, as they say, is history.
