Why Jimmy Kimmel can't stop watching J.D. Vance

If Jimmy Kimmel had his way, he'd never have to see anyone from the Trump administration on TV. However, that changed on Monday night when the late-night TV host became enthralled with watching Vice President J.D. Vance.

Kimmel has dedicated plenty of airtime to mocking Vance, even bringing in his own version of the vice president on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to parody the politician. But it's a necessary part of the job despite Kimmel's deep desire to never hear from Vance (or Trump) ever again.

Yet Kimmel sang a different tune during Monday night's monologue. The comedian took great pleasure in J.D. Vance fumbling his moment in the spotlight.

It came as Trump and Vance welcomed the Ohio State football team to the White House to celebrate the university's national championship victory. In a now viral moment, Vance dropped the trophy as it fell apart in his hands.

Kimmel took a shot at Vance before even showing the clip, suggesting Trump only let his VP attend the ceremony because Vance is an Ohio State alum.

But the comedian's real joy came from watching Vance drop the trophy in front of the team, media, and President Trump. "Perfect!" was Kimmel's sarcastic response.

And the late-night TV host wasn't done there. He made sure to show his audience an alternative angle of the flub. "I wouldn't want to be the fold-out sofa in his office tonight," Kimmel added, reviving the NSFW rumor about Vance from the campaign.

Vice President Vance may have blown his chance to be at the next ceremony involving a championship team. Knowing how much his boss cares about optics, Vance's fumble likely means an indefinite benching. At least Jimmy Kimmel can always revisit the Ohio State blunder whenever he wants.
