Jimmy Kimmel took the summer off to spend time with his family. Jimmy Kimmel Live! kept going strong, of course, with a string of guest hosts, but suffice to say the titular comedian missed a lot in the world of politics.

The promotion of Kamala Harris to Democratic Presidential nominee, the difficulty Donald Trump has had in recent weeks, and the absolute disaster that Trump's VP pick, JD Vance, has had in the media has gone done in Kimmel's absence.

Kimmel mocked Trump's controversial VP pick

Naturally, the host had to address them. And he did just that, condensing everything into a recap for his opening monologue. Kimmel proceeded to rag on Donald Trump's decision to select Vance as his running mate with a pretty hilarious barb about the latter's appearance:

"JD Vance looks like someone asked AI to make the Two and a Half Men one person."

Evidently, it was Donald Trump, Jr.'s idea to select Vance, which is something Kimmel gleefully spun into another bit. He joked that if Trump loses the election, then he will sue to get the Jr. removed from his son's name.

The VP barbs didn't stop there. Jimmy Kimmel also dug up Donald Trump's comments about his previous VP, Mike Pence, and "horrible" way that Kamala Harris treated him. Kimmel honed in on the hypocrisy.

"You sent an army of toothless goons to hang him, and then sat back and watched it on TV," the host noted. "Mike Pence is probably voting for Kamala Harris." Kimmel felt that the disastrous rollout for the Trump campaign has been amplified by the fact that the Democratic nominee for VP, Tim Walz, has been received well by the public.

He boiled down the difference between Harris' VP and Trump's VP using a flight as an analogy. He described Walz as the kind of guy who would "What brings you to Tampa?" because he wanted to be friendly. JD Vance, on the other hand? In Kimmel's estimation, "JD Vance would just sit there watching you sleep."

Kimmel will undoubtedly have plenty of material on both Trump and Vance heading into the back end of the year.
