The NBC schedule is about to look very different, and it’s all due to sports. The Winter Olympics are almost here, and it means shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon are going dark.
This was expected. After all, NBC is airing the Games, and it can’t air two things at once. While we’re not expecting a lot happening during the late night show hours of the schedule, NBC will want to capture as many people as they can with such a big sporting event. The good news is that the show will be back before February comes to an end, and there is a special episode airing.

When will The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon be pulled from the schedule?
The Tonight Show will go dark for two weeks. This is the same plan for Late Night with Seth Meyers, the fellow NBC late night program. However, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Show are only planning to take one week off during the February event.
There is a special episode to watch, though. The Tonight Show moved to a four-night week in 2024, but it will get a special Friday night episode on Friday, Feb. 6. This will air after the Opening Ceremony, and it makes a lot of sense since Fallon has had a few post-sporting event specials this year, usually on a Sunday.
It’s not clear if there will be reruns airing throughout the Winter Olympics right now. This will depend on the coverage for the games.

When will The Tonight Show return with new episodes?
The good news is that the break is only for the period of the Winter Olympics. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will return with new episodes on Monday. Feb. 23, and filming is slated to be back to normal according to the tickets available from 1 iota. Of course, the filming is always subject to change, but it does a good job of staying on track.
The tickets are only available up to the end of February, so it’s not clear if the show will take another break during March around the March Madness period. We know Late Night is planning on having episodes all the way through March, so it’s likely that The Tonight Show will as well. It’s always worth keeping an eye on 1 iota to see what the ticketing is like to know when shows are set to film.
The Tonight Show airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on NBC.
