As The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been preparing to end, fans of the show have seen some surprising turns. For example, it was unexpected that one of the show's recurring bits would get an online-only expansion. However, fans could have predicted some elements of what has happened, like the fact that Colbert has questioned whether Donald Trump played a role in his talk show ending.

Given that it has become a tradition for the talk show, another predictable element of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's final weeks is the news that it will feature a Christmas cartoon. However, since there were so many options for who could have been chosen, the voice talent involved in the last version of the Christmas cartoon may surprise many observers.

Nick Offerman will narrate the final version of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's Christmas cartoon

The last episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that will air in 2025 will feature the final edition of a tradition for the talk show. On Dec. 18, 2025, the show will air its final Christmas cartoon, which it has been revealed will be titled Colbert’s Canceled Christmas: The Last Noel. On top of the title of the cartoon being revealed, it has also been announced that the cartoon will be narrated by Nick Offerman.

A beloved actor with a highly recognizable voice, the choice of Offerman to narrate the final cartoon makes perfect sense given how comforting listening to the man is. There is another reason why Offerman appears to have been a practically perfect choice to have played a major role in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's final Christmas cartoon. Over the last decade, Offerman has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert seven times. The fact that Offerman had an ongoing connection to Colbert's talk show makes him a great choice for the upcoming role.

The first The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Christmas cartoon, A Very Special Counsel Christmas, aired in 2018. Most recently, the 2024 iteration of the holiday tradition was titled It’s a Worm-derful Life and focused on news about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Elon Musk that was garnering headlines at that time. It is also worth noting that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert didn't limit its cartoon content to the holiday season. Instead, Our Cartoon President aired 48 episodes between 2018 and 2020.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on CBS.
