Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez's whirlwind summer continued this week with an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. The comedian faced dating rumors and shared a behind-the-scenes story from the cultural event of the year.
During Hernandez's conversation with Andy Cohen on Monday night, a fan asked the Saturday Night Live cast member his thoughts on a viral rumor. According to gossip, reality television star Paige DeSorbo cheated on then-boyfriend Craig Conover with Hernandez.
The comedian quickly shut down the rumor and made sure to come with receipts in case anyone wasn't buying his story. Hernandez took out his phone and read a text exchange with DeSorbo in which she tipped him off to the rumors spreading on TikTok.
"TikTok wants me to be Domingo. Marcello Hernandez, the homewrecking Latino," he responded. Unfortunately for fans hoping for reality TV tea, Hernandez is nothing like his famous SNL character. He made sure to tell Cohen that he did not find the story amusing. Hernandez has been dating artist Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral for some time.
Cabral accompanied Hernandez to the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce earlier this summer. So of course, that topic also came up during the Watch What Happens Live interview.
"The most surprising thing I saw at the wedding was Tom Cruise," Hernandez told Cohen. "I got to talk to Tom Cruise, and he grew up in a house full of women, and we got to relate about that."
Hernandez also went on to shut down his 72 Hours co-star Kevin Hart, who claimed Hernandez was sending him videos of the wedding. The ceremony at Madison Square Garden was famously a phone-free event, so Hernandez made sure he didn't get in trouble with the newlyweds.
The appearance served as another reminder that Hernandez's profile now extends far beyond Saturday Night Live. He has become a fixture in entertainment headlines thanks to hosting gigs, movie roles, major brand campaigns, and, for better or worse, gossip. Like Pete Davidson before him, he's become one of the rare SNL performers whose off-screen career generates almost as much buzz as his work on the show itself.
But when it comes to work, Hernandez has been incredibly busy this summer. He appeared in promotional content for the FIFA World Cup, hosted the ESPYs, and is now making the rounds to promote 72 Hours. By the time his summer finally quiets down, it will be time to get back to Studio 8H for season 52 of Saturday Night Live.
A new season will give old and new fans a chance to keep up with Hernandez. He's certainly not slowing down anytime soon.
