Typically, reality TV and Saturday Night Live only cross paths when the sketch show parodies something from the popular genre. But a recent scandal from the world of reality TV dragged SNL cast member Marcello Hernandez into the mix.
Summer House star Paige DeSorbo recently made headlines for her breakup with SouthernCharm star Craig Conover. For those deeply embedded in the Bravo universe, it was a big deal considering the couple's popularity.
And somewhere along the way, Saturday Night Live star got thrown into the story. The rumor mill suggested DeSorbo cheated on Conover with Hernandez.
"I don't care about any rumor that is ever said about me," DeSorbo said on her podcast Giggly Squad. "The only thing that I was like, okay, I can't let this go by — because [there] was a third party involved — was people saying that I cheated on Craig with Marcello."
DeSorbo also found the rumors to be quite entertaining. "When I first saw that, I died laughing," she said. "I felt weird. I was like, 'I have to text Marcello because what if he sees this? What if he has a girlfriend.'"
For his part, Hernandez wasn't upset. In fact, he had the kind of response you'd expect from someone known for playing the woman-stealing Domingo.
"I texted him, I was like, ‘Hey, umm … just wanna let you know there’s, like, a rumor going around that I cheated on my boyfriend with you," DeSorbo recalled. "And he was just like, ‘f*** yeah!'"
Bravo fans were not happy with Marcello Hernandez
Marcello Hernandez seemed to be taking it all in stride. But not everyone would be expected to have the same reaction given the blowback the Saturday Night Live star received from Bravo fans.
Hernandez responded to Paige DeSorbo by sharing messaged he'd received from Summer House fans and DeSorbo-Conover fans.
Fans let Hernandez hear it, claiming they "f***ing hate" him if he was the reason for DeSorbo and Conover ending their relationship. The harsh feedback only forced DeSorbo to double-down and apologize again.
So what is the relationship between DeSorbo and Hernandez? According to the reality TV star, they've only texted one other time. It was when DeSorbo wanted to get in an SNL afterparty following Shane Gillis' episode.
Hopefully, DeSorbo's story will get Bravo fans to back off Hernandez. The SNL star took his brief foray into the world of reality TV drama like a champ.
