Saturday Night Live season 50 kicks off tonight with host Jean Smart. But the actor's Hacks co-star Hannah Einbinder is also a contender to cameo during the episode thanks to her SNL connection.

Smart will make SNL history when she takes the stage tonight. Hosting the season 50 premiere is a well-deserved honor for the accomplished actor.

But Smart would be among the first to say that she shares in Hacks' success with her co-star Hannah Einbinder. It wouldn't have been shocking to hear Einbinder got the call from Lorne Michaels to host tonight's episode. However, Smart is the official lead and is coming off another Emmy win for her portrayal of Deborah Vance.

A Saturday Night Live season premiere often has a few surprises for the audience. Fans already expect Maya Rudolph to be in the building as Kamala Harris. We also may get cameos from whoever SNL picked to play vice presidential hopefuls J.D. Vance and Tim Walz.

Hannah Einbinder deserves to get in on the action tonight. A cameo would not only celebrate the success of Hacks, but give a nod to Einbinder's unique SNL connection. The actor and comedian is the daughter of former Saturday Night Live cast member Laraine Newman.

Newman, a founder of The Groundlings, was in the inaugural SNL cast in 1975. She spent five years on the show, developing characters such as Connie Conehead, Valley girl Sherry, and Christie Christina.

Newman has primarily done voice work in recent years along with the occassional TV and film roles. She recently made headlines for calling out the Emmys catagorizing The Bear as a comedy and therefore creating more competition for her daughter and Hacks.

Many believe that Saturday Night Live season 50 will be a celebration of the show's half-century on the air. Whether or not Lorne Michaels really wants to leave heavily into nostalgia remains to be seen. But giving Einbinder a cameo would be a subtle way to give a nod to one of the show's original stars.
