5 Saturday Night Live alums we want to see back next season
There are some Saturday Night Live alums missed more than others. Many of them have gone on to have amazing careers, but we would certainly love to see them back. Even if it’s just for one night!
Many great comedic talents in movies got their start on Saturday Night Live. We’re looking at the likes of Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, and yes, even Will Ferrell. SNL isn’t one of those shows that says goodbye to alums forever. There are some who do come back, which means that the chances of seeing others is up there. It all depends on schedules.
Here are five SNL alums we would love to see return next season, even just for one episode.
Will Ferrell
It may be hard to remember that Will Ferrell was on Saturday Night Live. That’s not to say his performances weren’t memorable, but that he’s had such an amazing career since. You’re more likely to think of Anchorman and The LEGO Movie before you think of SNL.
Ferrell has been back on the show since. He has hosted five times since he left in 2002, which means that he is certainly open to making a return as schedules allow. It would be great to see some of his old-school skits that still stand the test of time.
Seth Meyers
Admittedly, Seth Meyers left SNL for a good reason. He got the opportunity to host his very own show, which is still ongoing today. That does make a return to SNL tricky, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting it. Couldn’t he get a guest host on his own show to come over. This opens the door for a few jokes about him moving on.
Meyers was head writer for a long time on the series. It’s because of him that it kept going and changing at a time when it could have started to flop with some big changes in the stars on the series. We’d love to see him host.
Mike Myers
Another comedic talent you may have forgotten was on SNL is Mike Myers. He left the series way back in 1995, and he went on to do some great works. You’ll know him for Shrek, Austin Powers, and much more.
There are so many ways that the show could incorporate his works since. Now would be a great time to see him come back, as well. After all, we have another Shrek movie in the works. He needs to promote it, right? Maybe he could team up with Eddie Murphy and they could both co-host a night to help with the promotion of that.
Kristen Wiig
Next up is a star who has made her mark in the world of comedic movies. Kristen Wiig is known for the likes of Wonder Woman 1984, Ghostbusters, and more. In fact, she made us feel sorry for the villain in Wonder Woman 1984, leading to a need for her very own movie.
She left Saturday Night Live in 2012, and there hasn’t been a female comedian quite like her since. There are some great people on the series, don’t get me wrong. But nobody whole holds the attention quite like her. It would be great to see how Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris would react to Wiig’s Anastasia Sticks of Hollywood Dish.
Robert Downey Jr.
Wait, Robert Downey Jr. is an alum of SNL? Yes he is! He was only around for one season between 1985 and 1986 as a repertory player, but he has hosted since. Now would be a great time to see him return to the series. After all, he has another big role in the MCU coming up. Downey Jr. will be Doctor Doom.
This is a great chance to make fun of how Downey Jr. is going to be a second character in the MCU. Yes, that’s been done before, but I don’t think any of us expected it to happen with one of the core Avengers in the movies!
There have been some excellent SNL stars over the many years. We’d have them all back for a night if we could!
