Stephen Colbert mocks Trump for failed attacks on Kamala Harris

Donald Trump is no Stephen Colbert. That's because the former president has struggled to land any convincing criticisms against his political opponent. And according to the Late Show host, that's more good news for Kamala Harris.
Stephen Colbert's monologues have attacked, mocked, and insulted Donald Trump for years. Just about every night, Colbert has found a way to get under Trump's skin or expose a flaw in the ex-president's character and policymaking.
But Donald Trump hasn't had the same success in attacking Kamala Harris. In the early days of the vice president's campaign, she's proven to be a difficult target for Trump and his team.
"One reason Trump might be upset about Biden dropping out is that he does not have a good line of attack on Harris," Colbert said. The best Trump has so far is the "Laughing Kamala" nickname, according to the late-night TV host.
"Laughing Kamala," Colbert began in his Trump voice. "Experiencing joy like a total freak. They call her 'Capable of Human Emotion Harris.' The not-dead-inside veep."
Colbert's impression of Trump accurately described how the former president has failed to come up with material on par with Crooked Hillary, Crazy Bernie, or Sleepy Joe. Considering how important such attacks are to Trump's campaign strategy, it could be a frustrating 100 days leading up to the election.
Trump's struggles also buy some time for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It's still very early, but the late-night show has yet to say anything negative, mocking, or satirical about Kamala Harris. The show has instead applauded the "memeification" of Harris' campaign.
So right now, it's much easier to mock Donald Trump's failures at making Kamala Harris a punchline than it is to come up with a hook. If Harris manages to defeat Trump in November, Stephen Colbert and his team will have to do their homework. Until then, they're enjoying watching Trump struggle with the assignment.
