Stephen Colbert spent years mocking politicians on The Colbert Report. He took a more measured approach to interviewing when he graduated to hosting The Late Show, but even still, the comedian has maintained a certain nimbleness when dealing with sensitive political topics.

Despite Colbert's political aptitude, or perhaps because of it (depending on which side you fall), his least favorite guest should come as no surprise. The comedian went on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and revealed that the politician he had the least fun talking with was none other than Donald Trump.

Colbert was "disappointed" by his Trump interview

Colbert told Andy Cohen that he was expecting to get the full bluster of Trump, but was actually disappointed that the former President took a more streamlined, "boring" approach during their interview:

"He was actually kind of... um... disappointing because he played the 'reasonable man.' You know what I mean? He's always kind of in persona mode."

It's ironic, given that Stephen Colbert has spent the duration of his Late Night tenure bashing Trump for his antics and bold proclamations, but the comedian felt as though he'd been short changed by Trump's decision to play it safe.

The host felt Trump was surprisingly "boring"

"He played it extremely safe and that's always boring," Colbert asserted. "He's essentially boring." The relationship between Colbert and Trump has not improved in the nine years since their interview took place. In fact, Trump allegedly considered Colbert to be one of his biggest enemies in the late night arena.

Colbert discussed being listed as a Trump "enemy" during a recent Late Night monologue, and he was absolutely thrilled. He had way more fun flaunting his "enemy" status than he did talking to the man who decreed him an enemy back in 2015.

"Finally, I made an enemies list," the comedian proclaimed. "I mean, obviously, there’s no guarantee I’ll be arrested, but it’s an honor just to be nominated."
