Water is wet, the sky is blue, and Stephen Colbert dislikes Donald Trump. The Late Show host has effectively turned Trump bashing into his signature bit over the last decade. He has spent a lot of time poking holes in the former President's game plan.

It's this level of commitment that made Colbert so gleeful during a recent Late Show episode. The host discussed a Rolling Stone article that claimed Trump has repeatedly complained about the way late night hosts have talked about him.

Colbert considers his "enemy" status an honor

Every host, from Jimmy Fallon to Seth Meyers, has taken pot shots at Trump, but Stephen Colbert is different. Colbert has proven to be such a thorn in the ex-President's side that he was actually named in the article. Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel were cited as the hosts that irritate Trump the most, and boy did Colbert love to hear it:

"“Finally, I made an enemies list! I mean, obviously, there’s no guarantee I’ll be arrested, but it’s an honor just to be nominated."

Colbert is on the short list of enemies who will be "punished" if Trump wins the presidency, and the Late Show host proved to be a few steps ahead. He presented the crowd with his plan, should things get dire enough for him to need it.

Colbert simply put on a pair of fake glasses. The kind with the fake mustache attached. He's clearly undeterred by the notion of Trump cracking down on comedians, given he has no legal grounds. He also joked about suffering less dire consequences should he win an Emmy Award.

"No doubt it’ll all be decided this weekend in Los Angeles when whoever wins the Emmy for best talk show will be sent to a camp," Colbert joked. He also threw a playful jab at his former Daily Show boss, Jon Stewart. "Of course, if Jon wins," the host reasoned. "He’s only incarcerated on Mondays."

The election is heating up, and it's clear that Stephen Colbert plans to heat up with it when it comes to dishing out political putdowns.
