Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, January 1?
By Matt Moore
Welcome to the new year! 2024 is officially here, but what about The Late Show with Stephen Colbert? Here's what to expect to see tonight on CBS.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert rode the ups and downs of 2023. Writers and actors going on strike threw a wrench in the year's schedule, as did Stephen Colbert's ruptured appendix. But throught it all, The Late Show remained network TV's most-watched late-night TV show.
Unfortunately, we won't see the show ring in 2024 on Monday. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Instead, CBS will reair the December 13 episode. Interested audiences can tune in to hear from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Jason Momoa and late-night TV legend Robert Smigel.
As for new episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, fans will have to wait a bit. Stephen Colbert and his staff are still on their holiday hiatus. After taking off last week, the show will remain off the air for another week.
That means the earliest we can expect to see Colbert back on CBS will new content will be Monday, January 8. Until then, fans will just have to rely on reruns, YouTube clips, or go cold turkey without The Late Show.
There aren't any alternatives, either. The rest of late-night TV is operating on the same schedule as The Late Show. Hosts such as Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel are also out this week.
