When it comes to the end of any show’s season, there are questions about the future. For South Park, there seem to be more questions than answers right now. There is only one certainty when it comes to South Park season 29 on Comedy Central and Paramount+.
2025 was certainly a rocky year for the series, but not because of the ratings or the fans. It all came from the backlash against some of the topics covered in the show, but we know the creators of South Park don’t really care about the negativity, right? They write what they know and feel, and most of the time, it’s hilarious. It’s why South Park has lasted almost three decades at this point.
So, do you really think the series is going to be canceled? Considering Comedy Central is owned by Paramount, which was the overhead that canceled The Late Show, then maybe. But there is some great news that brings extra questions.

South Park season 29 is happening
The only certainty about South Park season 29 is that it’s happening. Back in July 2025, Trey Parker and Matt Stone signed a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount to bring more episodes. That wasn’t just for one season or one year. It’s a five-year deal, ensuring the series would be on until 2030 and that there will be 10 episodes per year.
Now, the way those 10 episodes look is up for debate. We got the 10 episodes split between two seasons in 2025, and that’s what we’re expecting with the next set of 10 episodes, so we should get South Park season 29 and season 30 in 2026. Of course, we could get 10 episodes in one season, but that breaks the mold set for the last few years. Since season 24, there have been between two and six episodes per season and specials.

Will the South Park season 29 schedule be more consistent?
The release schedule of 2025 was rather chaotic, coming to an end on Wednesday, Dec. 10. We didn’t know when episodes would air or not most of the time, with episodes scheduled to be released and then just not appearing. Parker and Stone did apologize a lot of the time, stating that production delays were the cause of it — and they even took ownership when it was their own fault.
So, we are expecting an extended break before South Park season 29 premieres. With some hope, that will allow them to get the five (or maybe 10) episodes of the season filmed and ready to go for consistency, which would be better for the fans. However, I will say that while most shows would suffer due to the inconsistency, South Park seems to continually thrive, and it’s likely that it’s so bingeable when streaming.
South Park is available to stream on Paramount+.
