For some, hosting Saturday Night Live can be a struggle. For others, they're naturals and fit in seamlessly with the cast. Current SNL cast member picked one recent host he thinks is good enough to join the show permanently.

Not everyone takes to performing in front of a live audience or has the comedic timing needed to really stand out on Saturday Night Live. It makes you appreciate the ones who can, especially when they don't have a traditional background conducive to sketch comedy.

But if you ask Mikey Day, singer and actress Ariana Grande could be a Saturday Night Live cast member today. Day quickly named the recent Oscar nominee during an SNL panel for The Howard Stern Show.

Grande has hosted twice, and both times she impressed those watching at home and those in Studio 8H. Yes, she nailed sketches that asked her to sing. But what was perhaps the most surprising was her ability to play over-the-top characters and bring her own impressions to the table.

Plus, Grande even managed to sing poorly extremely well. She's a key part of what made the Domingo sketch go viral in 2024 as the off-key maid of honor.

Mikey Day became an SNL writer in 2013 and a cast member in 2016. That means he's seen countless hosts come to the show and try their hand at sketch comedy. So for him to so quickly name Grande is further proof she's the real deal.

Will Ariana Grande be part of Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary celebration?

As one of the best hosts of her generation, Ariana Grande has earned the right to attend Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary special in February. However, he attendance isn't guaranteed yet.

Grande was not among the list of celebrities announced by Saturday Night Live earlier this week. Other pop stars including Sabrina Carpenter and Miley Cyrus are on the list.

The singer also won't be performing in the televised concert special coming on February 14. But that's not much of a surprise as Grande has put music on the back burner for now.

Then there is the Pete Davidson angle. The couple were engaged in 2018, but called off their wedding. No evidence exists to suggest they've seen each other since. Given his history with Saturday Night Live and his relationship with Lorne Michaels, it's safe to assume Davidson will be in Studio 8H for the 50th anniversary special.

Will Grande? Hopefully the room is big enough that the two stars can be in the same place at the same time. Grande deserves to be recognized as one of the great Saturday Night Live hosts of her era.
