Snow might be falling from the sky in surprising proportions right now in New York City, which has caused some delays in NYC-based productions, but the buzz of late-night won't be dimmed. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and more staples will be moving ahead with new episodes on Monday, Feb. 23 in spite of the blizzard.
Deadline has confirmed that all of the late-night shows that shoot in New York City will forward with new episodes. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Daily Show will not cancel the planned tapings for Monday night's shows. That's great news for fans worried we could have been going without new episodes.
It's especially good news considering the widespread cancellations and changes to certain NYC-based productions. Broadway canceled all of its planned performances on Monday evening, the second day in a row that Broadway has gone dark amid the blizzard. On Monday morning, The View and Live with Kelly & Mark went ahead with new episodes, though without audiences.
While Jimmy Kimmel Live! is safe and sound from any blizzard delays since he films in Los Angeles, it remains unclear whether NYC late-night shows will follow suit with daytime shows and forgo having a studio audience. It's a safe bet that monologues could be delivered to empty seats tonight, but safety is the top priority. SNL with Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie should be unaffected later this week.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, Feb. 23 welcomes guests Ray Romano, Emma Thompson taking "The Colbert Questionert," and Cory Wong sitting in with Louis Cato and the Great Big Joy Machine. Jimmy Fallon chats with Tracy Morgan, Neve Campbell, and Cooper Flagg and features a performance from TWICE on tonight's episode of The Tonight Show.
Meanwhile, Seth Meyers hosts a clash of late-night worlds with Last Week Tonight host John Oliver and Saturday Night Live star Ben Marshall dropping by Late Night. Jon Stewart returns to host The Daily Show, as he does on Monday nights, with guest A. Mechele Dickerson. After tonight, Desi Lydic will take over to host the week's remaining episodes.
Like with anything when unpredictable weather is involved, changes could be made up to the minute to any of the tapings, but ahead of the airings on Monday night, these are the plans as laid out by CBS, NBC, and Comedy Central. Live studio audience or not, the late-night show(s) must go on even with unprecedented amounts of snow falling in the city.
