There are usually two guests to chat with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, so when the Monday, Feb. 9 schedule had just one person, we had to question it. This usually means that there is a last-minute addition to the lineup.
Well, that’s exactly the case here, and it makes sense. The schedule was initially planned ahead of the Super Bowl win, and then a spot was kept open for whoever would end up taking home the trophy. Of course, then, the right person with the schedule open needed to be booked, and that took some time.

Here’s who will join Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight
Mike Macdonald, the head coach for the Seattle Seahawks, will join Kimmel to chat about the Super Bowl win. This is the first time he has come onto the show officially as a guest, although he did appear with Guillermo Rodriguez during a remote recording last week to get ready for the Super Bowl.
Macdonald has made history as the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl. He is just 38, and he’s sure to talk about what this win means for him as well as what it means for the team.
Will there be comments on how the game went? It was one of the lowest scoring games ever in a Super Bowl, ending with just a 29-13 score between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
There’s always a lot of hype around who will get the post-Super Bowl interview among the late night shows, but it was always going to be Kimmel. After all, The Late Show is in reruns this week, and the two NBC shows are preempted completely due to the Winter Olympics. It also helps that the game was played in San Francisco and Kimmel films in Los Angeles.

One scheduled appearance was canceled over the weekend
It turns out that there was supposed to be an appearance by Jelly Roll, but this was canceled over the weekend. This was likely to be the first of the musical guests of the week — and now there is only one at the end of the week.
It’s not clear why Jelly Roll canceled his appearance. This likely didn’t affect getting Macdonald onto the show, as if he was set to be the musical guest, then there would have still been room for a Super Bowl interview.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
