We know Jimmy Kimmel as the comedian who makes us laugh every night on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, as the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and sometimes the emcee of various award shows. But he's adding another hosting gig to his resumé this fall, and it's in conjunction with one of the most famous stars on the planet — and for a great cause.
As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel is teaming up with actress and pop singer-songwriter Selena Gomez to host the star's third annual Rare Impact Fund benefit. The event celebrates the fifth anniversary of Gomez's charity foundation and will take place at Los Angeles’ Nya Studios West on Wednesday, Oct. 29. (Expect a rerun or guest host on Live! that night.)
In addition to Gomez calling on the talents of Jimmy Kimmel to host, the event will also feature a performance from the band The Marías, who the pop star collaborated with on her latest album I Said I Love You First. The benefit will also shine a light on five of the Rare Impact Fund's 30 nonprofit global partners who work tirelessly to provide mental health resources to young people.

Jimmy Kimmel set to host Selena Gomez's Rare Impact Fund benefit
In 2024, the event was hosted by Billy Crudup and featured performances by Karol G and Jelly Roll, ultimately raising $2 million per THR. This year marks Gomez's first collaboration with Kimmel, and he will surely bring some real charisma to the fundraiser event to inspire attendees to donate money. In a statement, Gomez said she was "incredibly grateful" for Kimmel's support as host.
Kimmel also shared a statement about his latest hosting gig, expressing gratitude right back to Gomez for inviting him: "The world is an increasingly difficult place, especially for young people. I’m grateful to Selena Gomez for inviting me to host the third annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and I’m honored to help support their great work."
Gomez launched the Rare Impact Fund in tandem with the release of her billion-dollar beauty brand Rare Beauty, which donates 1% of all sales directly to the foundation. In the five years since the foundation launched, Rare Impact has reportedly raised over $20 million and counting in their mission to support nonprofit organizations, raise awareness, and amplify mental health resources.
The announcement of Kimmel's impactful new hosting gig comes on the heels of the late-night host revealing a week-long string of Jimmy Kimmel Live! shows in Brooklyn from Sept. 29 through Oct. 3. Usually filmed in Los Angeles, this gives the show a different location, new guests, and the unique opportunity for Kimmel to welcome Stephen Colbert as a guest. Wonder what they'll talk about?
Kimmel also recently commented on his future in the late-night space, revealing it's "something I think about a lot" but "I kind of take [each day] as they come." A lot has changed with late-night television following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and every host's back-and-forth with President Trump, but Kimmel's clearly still committed to doing some good as a host.
