Jimmy Kimmel calls MSG rally Trump's 'nuttiest' event of all time
By Matt Moore
Jimmy Kimmel has spent years covering Donald Trump's speeches, rallies, and every other kind of event held in the MAGAverse. But according to the late-night TV host, this weekend's Madison Square Garden rally was the "nuttiest" one of all time.
Some comedians knew that Trump's MSG rally would be a disaster before it even started. But few could have predicted what happened in New York City over the weekend. A mixture of weirdness, racist jokes, and oddball speakers came together to form what was supposed to be Donald Trump's closing argument to American voters.
Kimmel led off his monologue by calling the event "what ... may have been the nuttiest Trump event of all time, and that includes the press conference he had last week to talk about Arnold Palmer's penis."
The comedian unloaded a barrage of adjectives to describe Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden. Kimmel called it hateful, mean, anti-Semitic, racist, and stupid, among other insults.
Of course, Kimmel couldn't ignore the controversy stemming from a comedian's harsh joke about Puerto Rico. "Trump made such a mess with Puerto Rico, they're now throwing paper towels at him," Kimmel joked.
Jimmy Kimmel tries to pick the worst speaker at Trump's Madison Square Garden
A staple of any Donald Trump rally is the lineup of opening acts. The Madison Square Garden event took things to a new level as one MAGA "celebrity" after another came on stage in support of Donald Trump. The only challenge for Jimmy Kimmel was picking which one was the worst.
First up, Kimmel quickly dismissed Trump's lawyer Alina Habba, who came on stage with a bedazzled MAGA jacket and the song "All I Do Is Win" blaring over the speakers. Kimmel mocked the choice of song, reminding his audience that Habba represented Trump in a case in which the ex-president lost and had to pay $83 million.
Then, Kimmel teased the 71-year-old Hulk Hogan for struggling to rip his shirt. The monologue then cut to a montage of awkward yells and laughs from Elon Musk, who Kimmel sarcastically described as "so likable."
Kimmel ripped into Tucker Carlson for his MSG appearance. The comedian teased Carlson over his bizarre laugh and then revisited Carlson's past comments expressing hatred toward Trump. "But now [Carlson] loves [Trump] passionately. That's how your life goes when you're born with a bowtie instead of a spine," Kimmel said.
Dr. Phil, Rudy Giuliani, and Melania Trump rounded out the cast of characters at Trump's MSG rally that caught Kimmel's attention. Whether or not these characters stay in the public eye, and Kimmel's monologues, will be decided in a week.
