One would think Jimmy Kimmel has seen and heard it all in the 20 years he's been hosting late-night TV. That is, until Elon Musk became an almost nightly fixture in Kimmel's monologue. Reports on the Tesla CEO's latest plan caught Kimmel off guard.
Musk's Twitter purchase, campaign donations to Donald Trump, and installation of DOGE made him an easy punchline target for Jimmy Kimmel Live!. So much so that Musk and Kimmel have engaged in some public back-and-forth over the past year.
Kimmel turned his attention to Musk once again during Wednesday night's monologue. The comedian cited a Wall Street Journal report suggesting Musk uses Twitter to recruit women to carry his children and requires them to sign non-disclosure agreements to along with payments.
"Who said romance is dead?" Kimmel quipped in response to the story. The late-night TV host even went a step further, suggesting Musk himself gave birth to a couple of children based on a shirtless photo of the SpaceX founder.
According to the outlet, Musk could have more children than the 14 known to the public. "You've heard of Alien vs. Predator? Elon may be both," Kimmel joked.
Kimmel was further confused by Musk's belief that declining birth rates are the greatest threats to the planet. For the comedian, a trip to Costco on a Saturday is all the evidence he needs that the world's population is doing just fine.
Things turned from odd to bizarre when Kimmel read an alleged text Musk sent to one woman. For Kimmel, the language sounded more like a super villan as the tech entrepreneur referenced creating a "legion" ahead of the apocalpyse.
It's not the first time a late-night TV host has compared Musk to a villain, or "Sex Luthor as Kimmel called him. In fact, Stephen Colbert said as much to Musk face-to-face back when late-night welcomed Musk as a guest with open arms.
But is there a less pessimistic angle to take on this report? Jimmy Kimmel tried a tongue-in-cheek attempt at framing the story as "Elon loves babies." But of course, the comedian couldn't do it without taking a shot at his other favorite target:
"It's kind of sweet, I guess," Kimmel said. "Elon loves babies. I mean, he spent $300 million to get one elected president, he loves them so much."
