Netflix dropped a brand-new trailer on Saturday night for Happy Gilmore 2. Star Adam Sandler is surrounded by fellow Saturday Night Live cast members both past and present.
The new trailer came as part of Netflix's Tudum event, showcasing the biggest projects coming from the streaming service. Sandler's sequel to the 1996 comedy classic is among the most highly anticipated movies of the summer.
Sandler is known for casting his friends and family in supporting roles. The actor also frequently dives into his Saturday Night Live contacts to get help on his projects. And judging by the trailer, Happy Gilmore 2 is no different.
Current SNL writer and Please Don't Destroy member Martin Herlihy gets an early appearance in the trailer. Herlihy's father, Tim, frequently collaborates with Sandler and co-wrote both Happy Gilmore movies.
SNL alum Kevin Nealon reprises his role as Gary Potter from the first film. Ben Stiller, who had a very brief stint in the SNL cast, is also back as Hal.
Current Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez also pops up in the trailer. He's seen being held back by Bad Bunny, an SNL favorite playing Happy's caddy.
Happy Gilmore 2 has more stars and cameos planned
The new Happy Gilmore 2 trailer doesn't show everyone slated to appear in the movie. That would make for a very long trailer considering who's in the sequel.
Legendary Saturday Night Live writer Jim Downey has an undisclosed role. The list of pro golfers with parts in the movie includes Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Paige Spiranac, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Lee Trevino, and Will Zalatoris.
Non actors Post Malone, Eminem, Reggie Bush, Travis Kelce, Dan Patrick, and Becky Lynch are also reportedly in Sandler's upcoming movie. They'll try to keep up with some big-name movie stars, too.
Ethan Cutkosky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Haley Joel Osment, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Philip Fine Schneider, Conor Sherry, Jim Downey, and Nick Swardson also appear in the movie.
Happy Gilmore 2 hits Netflix on July 25.
