Many people against the Super Bowl Halftime Show said that the problem was not being able to understand the lyrics. Bad Bunny sings in Spanish, and therefore, the majority of the performance was in his first language.
Even when Ricky Martin came onto the show, he sang in Spanish. It was Lady Gaga who was the only one to sing in English, although there were brief moments of English here and there.
For many people, it didn’t matter. You don’t need to understand the language to appreciate the music or understand the story being told. However, for those who didn’t understand the lyrics, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was the show to tune into for help.

Guillermo Rodriguez gives us his hilarious translation
During the Monday, Feb. 9 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Rodriguez helped everyone out by translating the first song after sharing just how happy he was with the show. In fact, Kimmel was grateful for it, as it meant that he could understand the words. And if you will believe his translation, it was actually a very simple song.
All he did was introduce himself, talk about finding a football, and discuss some of the items he was being handed throughout his routine. Oh, and there was a callout to Kid Rock through the sugar cane fields.
The translation came at the end of the 18-minute opening monologue during the Monday night show. You can skip toward the end if you want to just focus on that, but the whole monologue was focused on the Halftime Show, the alternate show, and President Donald Trump’s comments in recent days.
Jimmy Kimmel focuses on the Halftime Show
As mentioned, the opening monologue was heavily focused on the Halftime Show, along with the alternate option. At one point, Kimmel noted that the right wing will “complain about how bad everything is, and then they do it worse.” This was in reference to Kid Rock reportedly lip syncing his way through is song during the Turning Point USA’s “All American” alternative halftime show.
To make a note of the lip synching, Kimmel showed a snippet of the halftime show, where you can see his performance is completely out of sync with the music. It is hard to disprove anything about lip syncing with that video out. Turning Point is happy with the show, though, so they’ll be doing another alternative show during the next Super Bowl.
There were also some comments about the Super Bowl champions’ tradition for the next day, which is to go to Disneyland. Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker III were spotted in the tea cups, which Kimmel noted was the perfect place to put them after a night of partying.
And the digs weren’t just at the halftime performance. There was also a dig at the New England Patriots, when Kimmel showed footage of the fan who ran onto the field. Patriot’s Wide Receiver Kyle Williams stepped in to help stop the fan, but Kimmel pointed out that the fan ran more yards than the Patriots did all night.
All in all, the Monday night show was just a bit of fun, and we do appreciate the translation of the lyrics.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
