While the late night show hosts are technically competitors, they are also frequent collaborators. They show the true meaning of supporting each other, and that’s certainly the case with Late Show host Stephen Colbert.
He’s made some rare crossovers in recent months, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when Kimmel spent a week filming from Brooklyn in 2025. During that time, he filmed “The Colbert Questionert” segment with Kimmel, and that aired on The Late Show earlier this month.
It’s now time for another rare crossover moment, as Colbert will head to another late night show as a guest. The last time this happened was back in 2014!

Who will host The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert?
Colbert will be heading over to Late Night with Seth Meyers for the first time in more than a decade. The last time Colbert was on the show was back in September 2014, when Colbert was still hosting The Colbert Report. This was just months into Meyers’ time on Late Night, and it made it clear that these rivals were also going to support each other.
Meyers has since been on Late Night. The problem is that it can be difficult to get these crossover moments, as many of the shows film at the same or similar times. It doesn’t help that Late Night with Seth Meyers tends to record two episodes on Mondays to cover both Monday and Tuesday shows, helping to space out the workload a little better.
There is a lot for the two to discuss. The last time Meyers was on The Late Show, they discussed CBS opting to cancel the series completely. It was the first interview after the announcement, and to say it shocked all the late night hosts would be an understatement.

When will Stephen Colbert be on Late Night with Seth Meyers?
The episode will air on Tuesday, Jan. 27 on NBC. However, this doesn’t mean there won’t be an episode of The Late Show. Colbert will go to 30 Rock to film on Monday, pre-taping the Late Night appearance, and he will then return to his own set at the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Of course, there’s always a chance that something will overrun, but the two production teams know how important it is to stick to a schedule. We’re not worried about it.
One thing that these cross-network moments prove is that the “Late Night Wars” are a thing of the past. Although, could it help the late night shows in terms of viewership to have the wars return? Probably not if CBS is going to end late night programming, as ABC and NBC are sure to get a boost in viewership anyway.
