The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was forced off the air last week. But what should late-night TV fans expect to see tonight on CBS?

Stephen Colbert revealed he underwent surgery for a ruptured appendix over the Thanksgiving break. That led the late-night TV host to cancel a week of shows in order to rest and recover.

According to an update from Colbert, that recovery period will continue on Monday. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.

The official Late Show Instagram account shared a comment from Colbert on Monday. “I’m listening to my doctors and continuing to rest and heal. Thank you for all your well wishes and I’ll see you soon.”

CBS will reair the October 10 episode during the show’s normal time slot. Tune in to revisit Colbert’s conversations with Kerry Washington and Representative Maxwell Frost.

What to watch instead of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight, December 4

While late-night TV is always better when Stephen Colbert is involved, the important thing is his health. 2024 is going to be a big year for The Late Show, so it’s best that Colbert get the proper rest now.

In the meantime, there are late-night TV options for Monday night. Everyone else is back from the holiday break with new episodes.

Starting at 11:00 p.m. ET, catch The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Guest host Charlamagne Tha God welcomes S.A. Cosby to the show.

Then at 11:30, catch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC. Dua Lipa, Benny Safdie, and Brad Paisley are all scheduled to appear.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! brings a new show to ABC at the same time. Expect Ray Romano, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Paul Russell on tonight’s episode.

Last but not least, Late Night with Seth Meyers is brand new tonight. The show boasts Michael Shannon, Jason Narducy, Rachel Bloom, and Brian Frasier-Moore on the guest list.
