Saturday Night Live is finally back! After a shortened season and a summer break, SNL returns with a new episode on October 14. So who’s hosting Saturday Night Live this week?

The Writers Guild of America strike raised the possibility that Saturday Night Live season 49 would be delayed or even canceled. Thankfully, the WGA received an acceptable offer in time for SNL to essentially start on time. The SNL season premiere is set for October 14.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson will host. He’ll be joined by musical guest Ice Spice. Both are making their SNL debuts as host and musical guest, respectively.

Davidson was set to host an episode last season. But when the WGA strike began in May, Saturday Night Live was forced to cut season 48 short. It denied Davidson a chance for a Studio 8H homecoming, but Lorne Michaels didn’t wait long to make it up to his former cast member. Expect Davidson to create more memorable moments either at the “Weekend Update” desk or with the return of Chad.

What has Pete Davidson done since leaving Saturday Night Live?

Pete Davidson left Saturday Night Live after season 47. He missed a handful of episodes that year due to other commitments, making his exit less than surprising.

Following SNL, Davidson spent more time touring as a stand-up comedian. He recently completed dates alongside John Mulaney and Jon Stewart.

On screen, Davidson stars in the Peacock series Bupkis. The comedy is loosely based on Davdison’s life, and he plays a fictionalized version of himself.

He’s also landed roles in some major blockbuster films. Fans have seen Davidson pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3Fast X, and Dumb Money.

Saturday Night Live hosted by Pete Davidson airs Saturday, October 14 at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
