Late Night with Seth Meyers has canceled its fair share of politicians through monologues and “A Closer Look.” But the NBC late-night TV show hasn’t been heard from in months.

The Republican field of presidential candidates and Donald Trump’s multiple indictments make for the kind of material Seth Meyers devours at the Late Night desk. However, the show hasn’t aired a new episode since May.

The good news is that Late Night with Seth Meyers was not canceled. The show is one of many that has been affected by the writers’ strike. Meyers’ late-night show went dark when the Writers Guild of America went on strike and countless writers walked off their jobs.

So far, negotiations haven’t led to much optimism. Writers continue to call for better wages and improved contracts around residuals and streaming content. There appears to be no interest in restarting late-night TV without writers, similar to what happened in 2007. But as the fall season approaches, networks may choose to do something to fill the valuable timeslots.

What is Seth Meyers contract with NBC?

With Late Night on hiatus, Seth Meyers has been keeping busy. He announced a joint stand-up comedy show with fellow late-night TV host John Oliver.

Meyers also launched Family Trips, a podcast he co-hosts with his brother Josh Meyers. Celebrity guests come on to discuss their childhood memories around family trips and other hijinks from growing up.

In late-night, Meyers is staying put at NBC. He recently admitted he has zero interest in replacing Lorne Michaels running Saturday Night Live.

NBC extended Meyers’ contract in 2021. He’ll stay on as host of Late Night with Seth Meyers until at least 2025.
