The Writers Guild of America strike may be keeping late-night TV off the air, but it’s not stopping two hosts from getting in front of an audience. A pair of late-night TV personalities recently announced plans for a joint comedy show.

Seth Meyers and John Oliver will appear together at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on August 17. The date comes as both Late Night with Seth Meyers and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver remain off the air in support of striking writers.

The show coincides with individual stand-up comedy tours Meyers and Oliver have scheduled during the summer. While it’s not completely unheard of for late-night TV hosts to do shows during the season, the WGA strike made it easier for Meyers and Oliver to book their tours.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has been off the air since April 30. Late Night with Seth Meyers last aired a new episode on May 1, just days before the WGA strike became official.

A presale is currently underway to see John Oliver and Seth Meyers’ comedy show.

The best of Seth Meyers and John Oliver together

Long gone are the days of late-night TV hosts openly feuding with each other. Now, hosts like Seth Meyers and John Oliver routinely appear on each other’s shows, film bits for award shows, or cameo in sketches together.

Oliver and Meyers may have the best chemistry among the current crop of late-night hosts. Both take a similar approach to deconstructing the news that blends broad comedy and more nuanced commentary.

That chemistry and friendship has been on display during Oliver’s visits to Late Night with Seth Meyers over the years. Check out the clips below for proof.
