Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, March 11?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live returns tonight for a brand new episode, making it three in a row for the late-night sketch show. So who will SNL fans see take the stage tonight?
Woody Harrelson and Travis Kelce hosted the previous two episodes. Harrelson made headlines for his anti-vax stance in the monologue, while Kelce proved to be a capable host as far as professional athletes go.
But tonight, SNL goes back to letting a professional performer take the stage. Jenna Ortega will host Saturday Night Live alongside musical guest The 1975.
For Ortega, it’s her SNL debut. The 20-year-old has already built an impressive resume, with roles in You, the Scream franchise, and the hit Netflix series Wednesday.
What to expect from Jenna Ortega tonight on Saturday Night Live
At 20 years old, Jenna Ortega will become one of the youngest SNL hosts in history. However, that shouldn’t get in the way of what will likely be an impressive performance.
Anyone familiar with Ortega’s work on screen or in interviews shouldn’t be surprised if she comes through in a big way tonight. Her relaxed demeanor and quirky sense of humor make for a perfect combination to succeed on Saturday Night Live.
Fans haven’t quite seen Ortega in a straightforward comedy yet, or anything quite as absurd as SNL writers are prone to create. It seems like the actress is more than game to do anything the staff asks of her, so expectations should be high.
One thing we’ve yet to really see in Saturday Night Live season 48 sketches is a host impersonating another celebrity. The obvious idea is for Ortega to play someone like Aubrey Plaza. Maybe we’re due for a “Celebrity Family Feud” sketch that pits TV stars against movie stars ahead of Sunday’s Oscars ceremony?
