James Corden’s downfall is fascinating to watch
The Late Late Show‘s James Corden has faced a challenging past few months. After being struck with a sudden blow online from an NYC restaurateur and later being forced to apologise for abusive behaviour on his own show, the host’s shadow of controversy won’t leave his side.
Rumours, rumours, rumours
For a number of years now, Corden has been a hot topic for online forums. The British host is a popular talking point on Reddit in particular, becoming the face of a number of concerning rumours regarding his public persona.
From lashing out at waiter staff to ignoring audiences at his late-night show tapings, a large number of users over the years have shared personal, yet unverifiable worrying encounters with Corden.
The CBS star chooses to stay quiet on the obvious anti-Corden tirade which sees no sign of slowing down. It seems the host can only fall back on his ebullient on-air personality which he so confidently attempts to portray.
Things got slightly more complicated back in 2016 when the host faced public scrutiny after appearing in a taping for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. The host appeared in a prank segment which secretly taped his backstage day at the Late Late Show studios. Whilst Corden was purposely being wound up with bothersome stunts, Corden’s behaviour to regular members of the public was hard to watch for many.
Celebs speak out
Corden was met with his first taste of modern cancel culture earlier this year after he was publicly disgraced by a NYC restaurant owner. Keith McNally labelled the host as the worst customer he’d ever encountered at the establishment, publishing a number of scathing posts on Corden.
Shortly after, Corden was forced to apologise privately before attempting a public defence to the claims during his late night show. Whilst the host only barely managed to ride through the storm of online bickering, it seems he won’t get off so lightly.
Remember, James is somewhat of a professional at remoulding his personal image. Shortly after, the host became the latest star on popular online talk show, Hot Ones, clearly hopeful he could win back the ‘good guy’ persona he’s craved in Hollywood for some time.
Now, big celebrities are openly calling him out. We’re very used to industry figures stating quiet on their personal squabbles with other celebs, and it’s hardly surprising why. Former Spice Girl, Mel B, felt no fear this week however after blasting Corden recently during a talk show appearance.
Speaking to Big Narstie, she admitted that “you should always be nice and he [Corden] hasn’t been very nice.”
Mel B labelled the host the “biggest d***head in Hollywood”.
However Corden chooses to continue his career in the spotlight, he’s bound to find it difficult to avoid his critics.
