James Corden has created further controversy once more as he stars in Mammals, a new show on Amazon Prime. The comedian has been met with a lot of viewers comparing his acting to the style of British comedian, Ricky Gervais.

Controversy on controversy

A month ago, James Corden came under heavy fire for stealing a Ricky Gervais joke almost word for word during a segment on the Late Late Show. Now, his acting in Mammals is being compared to Ricky Gervais. The previous controversy has clearly not been forgotten.

One user on Twitter tweeted:

"“Watching Mammals on @PrimeVideo can’t help think James Corden wants to be @rickygervais.”"

Whilst another claimed that James Corden has ripped off Ricky’s acting style:

People appear to enjoy giving James Corden a hard time. Recently, he has been met with an overwhelming amount of criticism and controversy. Aside from the joke theft controversy, he was also publicly banned from the Balthazar restaurant in New York after being accused of abusive behaviour towards staff. The host has since apologised for this.

Corden is set to make an exit from his duties at The Late Late Show, and an acting career could very easily be on the horizon for the television star.

Mammals – a show to watch?

Many on Twitter have made it clear that James Corden is the reason why they cannot bare to watch the Amazon Prime show. Whilst some have attacked his acting skills, others will simply not give the show a chance due to him starring in it. One viewer exclaimed on Twitter:

"If you’re thinking of watching this new James Corden thing on Prime – Mammals, DON’T! That is about 3 hours of my life lost."

The reviews don’t look promising at this point.

A clear winner

Meanwhile, Gervais has had an undeniably more successful year. Gervais won TV Choice Award’s  ‘Best Comedy Performance’ last week for his performance in his Netflix show Afterlife.

Ricky’s comedy has gathered a flurry of positive feedback and he now has the trophy to prove he’s doing better than his rivals.

In what is quickly becoming a popularity contest, it is Gervais who is definitely in the lead. Corden has a lot to do and apologise for before he can catch up.
