Friday night brought the thrilling conclusion of Jeopardy!‘s inaugural second-chance tournament. So who was crowned champion after tonight’s game?
Molly Karol, a CPA from Austin, Texas, Jessica Stephens, a statistical research specialist from Nashville, Tennessee, and James Fraser, a Naval aviator from Newport Beach, California faced off in round one of the finals last night.
In that game, Fraser came out on top with a total of $30,929. Stephens finished in second with $28,600 and Karol sat in third with $15,600.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
It was a close game after the “Jeopardy!” round. Jessica Stephens led with $4,600 but James Fraser wasn’t far behind with $3,600. Meanwhile, Molly Karol stayed in it with $2,600.
In “Double Jeopardy!” play, things came crashing down for Fraser when he failed to convert a true “Daily Double.” He finished the round in a distant third with $2,000. Stephens led with $15,300, with Karol in second at $10,600.
All three players failed to correctly answer “Final Jeopardy!” tonight. Stephens lost $10,000 on the clue, but her score from Thursday was enough to give her the victory. She won the second-chance tournament, a $35,000 prize, and a spot in the Tournament of Champions.

The character Madame DeFarge comes from Charles Dickens’s novel A Tale of Two Cities. James Fraser guessed “Urah [sic] Heep,” a character from Dickens’ David Copperfield. Molly Karol couldn’t come up with a response, and Jessica Stephens wrote down “Penelope” as her answer.
