Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, October 15?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live season 48 rolls on tonight with another brand-new episode. So who will SNL fans see take the stage in Studio 8H?
The first two episodes featured unexpected choices for the host. Miles Teller’s summer blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick also starred Tom Cruise and Jon Hamm, but Teller got the call from SNL. Last week, The Banshees of Inisherin star Brendan Gleeson made his SNL debut. He admitted his face is probably more recognizable than his name.
Tonight, SNL goes with an unmistakable name and someone whose been to the show before. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion will serve as both the host and musical guest.
It’s Megan’s second time on Saturday Night Live after performing as the musical guest for the season 46 premiere hosted by Chris Rock.
Can Megan Thee Stallion keep up on Saturday Night Live?
Megan Thee Stallion should have no issues when it comes to performing her two songs as the musical guest. The rapper quickly established herself as a talented, entertaining performer. Plus, her previous SNL experience should make things even easier.
That experience should also help when it comes to the monologue and sketches. In 2020, Megan appeared in both a pretaped music video parody and a live sketch. Unlike other first-time hosts, Megan will have some idea of what goes on backstage and how rapidly things move.
Megan Thee Stallion lacks the acting experience that some other musicians experienced before SNL. However, she is set to appear in the musical comedy F***ing Identical Twins from A24. Her co-stars include SNL’s Bowen Yang. It’s likely Megan picked up a thing or two working on the movie that could help her on Saturday Night Live tonight.
