Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, September 17?
By Matt Moore
The further we get into September, the closer we get to a new Saturday Night Live. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight?
Saturday Night Live typically premieres when the calendar flips from summer to fall. A mid-September debut wouldn’t be completely unheard of in the show’s history.
Unfortunately, that won’t be the case with SNL season 48. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
Instead, NBC will reair the season 47 episode from October 23, 2021. Ted Lasso star and SNL alum Jason Sudeikis was the host, joined by musical guest Brandi Carlile.
When does Saturday Night Live premiere?
Saturday Night Live has been making some pretty big announcements over the past few weeks. Fans know that when the show does premiere, it will look very different.
Cast members Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villasenor, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari all left the show. Producer Lindsey Shookus also departed.
The show brought in four new cast members as featured players: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker.
SNL has set its season premiere for October 1, in what will likely be the first of three consecutive new episodes. So we won’t have to wait too much longer for a return to Studio 8H. We’re still waiting to hear who the host and musical guest will be.
