A new month and a new week brought hopes of a new episode of Jeopardy! tonight. So what should fans expect to see?

Last we saw Jeopardy!, Luigi de Guzman became the champion after defeating Katrina Hill. De Guzman banked $23,401 as his jackpot.

Whether or not he can defend his title remains to be seen. There will not be a new episode of Jeopardy! tonight.

Instead, the long-running gameshow begins showcasing past episodes. Monday night features Matt Amodio, the Ph.D. student from New Haven, Connecticut who eventually walked away with $1,518,601. That total is good enough for third all-time in regular Jeopardy! play.

When do new episodes of Jeopardy! return?

Jeopardy! fans know that the summer months mean they have to go without new episodes of the show. However, the wait won’t be too long.

Jeopardy! season 39 will begin on September 12. You can expect Luigi de Guzman to be back, defending his title as champion.

As far as who will host, fans can anticipate more of the same. Both Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik will continue to split hosting duties. The show opted to continue this setup rather than name a permanent host.
