Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will not return for an eighth season this fall. TBS and Warner Bros. announced the late-night TV show has been canceled.

Samantha Bee led Full Frontal on TBS beginning in 2016. Bee made her mark not only as one of the few female voices in late-night TV, but as a rare post-Daily Show success story for a former correspondent.

In a statement (via Variety), Warner Bros. praised Bee and her team for seven successful seasons of Full Frontal. The network also left open the possibility of working with Bee on future projects:

"As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we’ve made some difficult, business-based decisions. We are proud to have been the home to ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee’ and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. We celebrate this extraordinarily talented cast and crew and look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them in the future."

Despite the difficult decision, it certainly sounds like there are no hard feelings between Bee and TBS. The comedian seemed to take things in stride as she thanked her crew and fans on Twitter.

Full Frontal With Samantha Bee helped late-night TV through the Trump era

Full Frontal ran alongside The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers regarding its coverage of President Donald Trump’s tenure. While Bee didn’t have the luxury of a nightly show to keep up with the ever-breaking news cycle of the Trump era, she still delivered poignant comedy.

Bee’s show received a surge in attention in 2018 when she used a vulgar term to describe Ivanka Trump during a segment on separated immigrant families. Full Frontal lost sponsors and Bee found herself as a topic for political commentary. Bee put her morals and standards on display by apologizing but keeping the attention on the immigration crisis, a reflection of what she attempted to do with Full Frontal.

The show couldn’t help but take one final dig at President Trump following the news that Full Frontal was canceled. Parodying Trump’s infamous January 6 video, Samantha Bee and company told fans it was time to go home.
