James Corden’s sudden decision to leave The Late Late Show next year has had regular viewers in shock. However, after new rumours emerged in January of this year of the host reportedly asking for a pay bonus, this could indeed have played a role in the host’s announcement to sign off from his hosting duties.

The National Enquirer reported on an unidentified source’s account of behind the scenes activity on the late night show.

The insider told the outlet: “He’s trying to get more money for himself, but doing nothing to make the show a happier place to work.”

“While James puts himself out there as Mr. Nice Guy on camera, he is rarely warm or even kind to his staff.”

Whilst there is no confirmed proof of these described antics nor his want for a pay rise, this news could provide some alluding context to his exit.

“I didn’t ever want to get to a point where I was bored doing it.”

Corden has made no public response to ongoing claims he has asked CBS for a pay rise and it’s likely he never will. Insider claims of the host’s off-screen behaviour however, may be a more difficult rumour for the host to dismiss.

Online forums have continuously for years shared unproven but popular encounter stories with the host, with many criticising his supposed rude and arrogant personality to members of his crew during tapings and in social scenes.
