Jeopardy! fans have watched as the returning champion has squeaked out some nail-biting victories over the past week. Did the winning streak continue tonight?

It seems like more often than not, games have been decided by the “Final Jeopardy!” clue lately.  The drama certainly makes for good television!

Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?

Megan Wachspress, an attorney from Berkeley, California, is the current Jeopardy! champion. Through six victories, her jackpot stands at $60,603.

Her competition on Wednesday night included Jeff Weinstock, a marketing lecturer from Miami, Florida, and Sarah Brogren, a writer from Burbank, California.

In the “Jeopardy!” round, Weinstock took an early lead with $5,000. Brogren sat in second with $3,800, followed by the champion Wachspress with $2,800.

“Double Jeopardy!” saw the game get even more competitive. Weinstock and Brogren finished the round tied in first with $7,000 apiece. Wachspress wasn’t too far behind with $5,600.

Brogren couldn’t come up with the correct “Final Jeopardy!” response, which cost her everything. Wachspress answered correctly but wagered conservatively. A correct response and smart bet from Weinstock gave him enough to win the game, becoming the new Jeopardy! champion with $11,202.
