Jeopardy! returned on Tuesday night, this time with a new defending champion. So did fans see the start of a new streak?
Ryan Long’s run as Jeopardy! champion ended on Monday night. It came after the rideshare driver from Philadelphia spent over two weeks as the champ and banked just under $300,000.
Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?
Eric Ahasic, a meteorologist from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the current Jeopardy! champion. He outplayed Long on Monday on his way to winning $18,401.
Looking to make Ahasic a one-hit wonder on Tuesday were Elaine Hesser, a features editor from Salinas, California, and Michael Toughill, a senior marketing analyst from Seattle, Washington.
The “Jeopardy!” round was a close battle between Ahasic and Toughill. The challenger finished the round in the lead with $3,600, followed by Ahasic with $3,400, and Hesser with $1,800.
It was a different story in “Double Jeopardy!,” however. Ahasic correctly answered 16 questions, including body “Daily Double” clues, on his way to banking $25,800. Toughill dropped to second with $10,000 followed by Hesser with $7,400.
“Final Jeopardy!” was a formality, despite being a triple stumper. Ahasic may have answered incorrectly, but he remained the Jeopardy! champion. His two-day total sits at $40,001.
