Jeopardy! kicked off a new month with a brand new episode. Did it bring with it a brand new champion?

It’s been nearly two weeks since the current Jeopardy! champion started their run. In a relatively short amount of time, the champ has made major moves up the all-time cash leaderboard.

Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?

Ryan Long, a rideshare driver from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the current Jeopardy! champion. Long entered Wednesday night’s game on a 13-day winning streak, amassing $252,700 along the way. That’s good enough to put him 13th on the all-time leaderboard for regular play.

Looking to dethrone Long tonight were Meagan Morrow, a real estate manager from Portland, Oregon, and Vanessa Williams, an assistant dean from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The “Jeopardy!” round was a competitive one and Long found himself in unfamiliar territory. After the first set of clues, Morrow led with $5,000, followed by Williams and Long with $3,800 apiece.

“Double Jeopardy!” saw Long storm back. He still trailed Morrow, who had $16,800 to Long’s $14,400. Unfortunately, Williams couldn’t keep pace and finished with $2,200.

“Final Jeopardy!” was a triple stumper with no player coming up with the correct response. Morrow bet big and it cost her the game. Ryan Long won by just $1,400 and remains the Jeopardy! champion.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! clue?

It’s not often that all three players whiff on the final clue. Here it is in the category “The Early 19th Century”:

Admiral Pierre-Charles Villeneuve signaled “engage the enemy” around noon & surrendered at 1:45 PM during this battle

Answer: What is the Battle of Trafalgar?

All three players guessed “What is Waterloo?” as their responses. Meagan Morrow wagered $10,000 while Ryan Long only bet $8,000 — and it made all the difference.
