Will James Corden join this sports show after CBS run?
James Corden’s hosting duties at The Late Late Show will come to an end next year, it was announced this month.
A variety of speculations have already arisen online as to where the presenter may choose to continue his television career, with many guessing a move back to the United Kingdom.
In particular, it has been rumoured that Corden may find himself hosting BBC Sports programme, Match of the Day.
Current host, Gary Lineker has attempted to downplay rumours this week. On Twitter the BBC personality wrote: Getting a number of texts from friends asking if I’m quitting @BBCMOTD after reports on Twitter of my possible successor.”
“So it’s only fair I give you the bad news now: I’m afraid I still have 3 years to run on my contract, so you’re stuck with me for a while.”
It’s clear why the reports of this possible move for Corden were not immediately dismissed. The Late Late Show host has previously hosted sports game show, A League Of Their Own on Sky.
Corden to continue late night TV run in UK?
Maybe a spot on the BBC’s most decorated sports show may not be on the cards for Corden, but a number of opportunities in the UK may still remain open.
In recent years, the UK’s late night TV line-up has shrunk. As of 2022, only Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton remain as primetime hosts. If anything, it would be an obvious move for large networks such as ITV or the BBC to question the idea of offering a new show for Corden in his home country.
As of yet, he has given no indication of his future plans after he departs his CBS show.
