Jeopardy! returned on Wednesday night with another brand new episode. Did Mattea Roach walk away with another victory?
Roach has already surpassed the 20-win mark and her winnings are up over $500,000. The tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada is among the winningest players in Jeopardy! history at this point.
Looking to put a stop to things tonight were Jaime Sisson, a fair and responsible banking manager from Madison, Mississippi, and Kelly Flynn, a high school English teacher from Exeter, New Hampshire.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
It was the same old story in the “Jeopardy!” round as Mattea Roach built herself a comfortable lead. She finished the round with $7,000, while Kelly Flynn had $3,000 and Jaime Sisson had $2,600.
In “Double Jeopardy!,” things only got more comfortable for the defending champion. Roach wound up with $28,400. In second place sat Sisson with $6,600. Unfortunately, Flynn finished with -$2,600 and couldn’t qualify for the final clue.
With the game out of reach, Roach had no pressure in “Final Jeopardy!” once again. Still, she answered the clue correctly. However, she did not wager anything. Her 22-day total now stands at $534,984.
What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! clue?
Both contestants who were eligible for “Final Jeopardy!” answered correctly. Here’s the clue in the category “The Civil War”:
A Union soldiers’ song said Gen. McClellan, who let a Confederate army escape after this battle, “was too slow to beat ’em”
Answer: What is Antietam?
It would have been a little more exciting if the game was up for grabs in “Final Jeopardy!” tonight. But it was still nice to see both players show off their history knowledge.
