Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, April 23?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live fans have been treated to three consecutive new episodes in the past three weeks, each with a solid host. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight on NBC?
Jerrod Carmichael, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Lizzo each brought something different to the table over the past few weeks. Saturday Night Live season 47 continues to have an unexpected lineup of hosts, and those three are proof positive.
However, we won’t see a new name added to that list on Saturday. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
Instead, NBC will reair the Billie Eilish episode from earlier this season. Back in December 2021, the singer joined the exclusive club of hosts who also served as musical guests.
It’s fitting that NBC chose that episode to fill SNL’s regular timeslot tonight. It comes a week after Lizzo also acted as both host and musical guest.
When will Saturday Night Live return?
Saturday Night Live fans know that when the calendar flips to May, the season finale is around the corner. For a show that typically airs 21 new episodes per season, SNL is already at 18 shows.
Episode 19 will air on May 7. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Cumberbatch will host on that night, marking his second time doing so. He’ll be supported by Arcade Fire. The rock band has a handful of SNL appearances under its collective belt.
After that, expect SNL to announce at least two more guests. Fans are holding out hope that a fomer castmember like Bill Hader will get the call to run the season 47 finale. Stay tuned for more news as its breaks!
