Rudy Giuliani, one of America’s most controversial political figures stunned viewers after he was revealed as the Jack in the Box on The Masked Singer this week. And yes, we’re just as confused as you are.

The former Mayor’s reveal left one judge, Ken Jeong to walk out during the finale performance in frustration.

Last night, late night TV was clearly eager to comment on the shock television moment, with several hosts chiming in on the news.

Jimmy Kimmel reacted in dismay on his show last night, saying: “I know it’s Fox, but I still can’t believe they did this.” He continued, “Rudy Giuliani tried to overthrow our government. Is Jared from Subway and the Zika virus next?”

Back in February, it was already leaked that the political figure would make an appearance on the season. Kimmel was quick to react before the official unveil, saying, “How does this even happen? I mean, a lot of people at Fox had to sign off on this. Not one of them was like, ‘Hey, maybe we shouldn’t have the guy who is under investigation for helping to plot an insurrection signing on our show?’”

We wish we had an answer.

Trevor Noah also spoke on the reality TV moment last night. The Comedy Central host joked: “Rudy Giuliani just got voted off The Masked Singer, which means he’s about to spend the next five years claiming that he actually won The Masked Singer.”

Giuliani has spent the last year defending former President Trump’s widely criticised claims of election fraud in the 2020 election.

Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon also joked, “After seeing that, the CDC reinstated the mask mandate.”

No matter the reaction, the celebrity talent show sure brought in some eyes to it’s newest season.
