Mattea Roach continues to make a name for herself on Jeopardy! this week. Did she make it eight games in a row on Thursday?

Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has become one of the most successful Canadians to ever play Jeopardy!. Her total winnings of $168,401 are also nearing historic numbers.

Trying to put an end to that streak tonight was Joe Grodahl, a non-profit program and events director from Edina, Minnesota, and Kristen Rucki, a high school English teacher from Astoria, New York.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight?

As usual, Mattea Roach jumped out to a significant early lead. After the “Jeopardy!” round, she totaled $10,200. Joe Grodahl was in second with $2,400, while Kristen Rucki was in third with $1,400.

Roach put the game away in “Double Jeopardy!” thanks to a quick buzzer. She correctly answered 14 questions on the way to banking $19,400. Rucki totaled $3,000 and Grodahl had $2,400.

It meant that “Final Jeopardy!” had no impact on the outcome once again. However, all three contestants failed to come up with the correct response. It cost Roach $5,000, but her eight-day total stands at $182,801.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! question?

It’s not often that Mattea Roach fails to answer “Final Jeopardy!” correctly. Here’s the clue in the category “Women in British History”:

The orphaned future Queen Elizabeth I was devoted to this stepmother who died 2 days before Elizabeth’s 15th birthday

Both Roach and Rucki incorrectly guessed “Who is Jane Seymour?” on this clue. Grodahl came up with “Who is Catherine?” as his response.
