Jeopardy! fans have watched Mattea Roach put together an impressive winning streak over the past two weeks. So what happened in tonight’s episode?
Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, entered Tuesday night’s game on a five-day winning streak. Her cash winnings so far total $117,200.
Standing in the way of a sixth win tonight was Zhe Lu, a software engineer from Boston, Massachusetts, and Leah Pence, a social studies teacher from Woodstock, Georgia.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
Mattea Roach returned to her dominating ways in the “Jeopardy!” round. She answered 18 out of 19 questions correctly, more than double the next closest competitor. After the first set of clues, she had $9,600. Zhe Lu was in second with $2,600, while Leah Pence totaled -$200.
“Double Jeopardy!” featured more of the same as Roach distanced herself from the other players. The tutor from Toronto boasted $25,400 after round two, followed by Pence at $7,800 and Lu at $5,800.
“Final Jeopardy!” was just a formality. However, Roach and Pence did answer correctly. The returning champ added $5,400 to her total and earned the right to play again tomorrow.
