Jeopardy! kicked off a new week of shows on Monday night. Here’s how things played out on tonight’s game.
Jackie Kelly, a pension calculation developer from Cary, North Carolina, returned as the defending Jeopardy! champion after her win on Friday night. With cash winnings totaling just over $7,000, Kelly looked to add to her bank account tonight.
Standing in the way was Ryan Guzzo Purcell, a theatre director from Seattle, Washington, and Amie Walker, an attorney from Chandler, Arizona.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
Ryan Guzzo Purcell jumped out to the early lead after the “Jeopardy!” round. He cashed in on the “Daily Double” on his way to totaling $6,000. Jackie Kelly finished the round in second with $3,200, while Amie Walker ended up with $2,400.
In “Double Jeopardy!,” Kelly mounted a comeback. She went one-for-two on “Daily Double” questions. She finished the second round with $17,200. Guzzo Purcell wasn’t far behind with $14,400, and Walker had an outside shot with $7,600.
“Final Jeopardy!” saw both Kelly and Guzzo Purcell wager big and come through with the correct responses. In the end, Kelly’s lead was enough to give her a narrow victory and make her a two-day Jeopardy! champion.

Tonight’s “Final Jeopardy” played a major factor in who came out on top. Here’s the clue in the category “Sports History”:

Walker was the only contestant who couldn’t come up with the correct response. Guzzo Purcell wagered $13,500 while Kelly put $11,601 on the line. In the end, Kelly won by a mere $901.
