Another week of Jeopardy! came to a close on Friday night. Here’s how things played out on tonight’s game.
Ciara Donegan, an undergraduate student from Towson, Maryland, entered the game as the returning champion after an impressive performance on Thursday night. She banked $27,601 on her way to becoming the Jeopardy! champion.
On Friday night, she faced off against Nicole Wachell, a teacher and writer from Los Angeles, California, and Jackie Kelly, a pension calculation developer from Cary, North Carolina.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
Nicole Wachell got out to an early lead after the “Jeopardy!” round. She answered 10 questions correctly, including the “Daily Double,” on the way to earning $8,400. Jackie Kelly finished with $4,600 and Ciara Donegan had $3,400.
But in “Double Jeopardy,” Donegan came roaring back. She was strong on the buzzer, totaling $15,200. Wachell wasn’t far behind with $12,000 and Kelly was also in the mix with $10,600.
“Final Jeopardy!” stumped all three contestants. Donegan’s and Wachell’s hefty wagers backfired, leaving the door open for Kelly to become the new Jeopardy! champion.

Tonight’s “Final Jeopardy!” question tripped up all three contestants. Here’s the clue in the category “U.S. City Names”:

Answer: What is Atlanta, Georgia?
Ciara Donegan and Nicole Wachell both failed to come up with a response. Jackie Kelly incorrectly guessed “What is Annapolis?”
Donegan wagered $10,000 of her $15,200, and Wachell put $11,201 of her $12,000 on the line. By playing it safe and only wagering $3,100 of her $10,600, Kelly secured the victory.
