By Matt Moore
Jeopardy! was back on the air Wednesday night with another brand new episode. Here are all the details from the episode hosted by Ken Jennings.
Henry Rozycki entered the night’s episode as the defending champion. He came into the game on a two-day streak, with cash winnings totaling just over $27,000.
Rozycki’s opponents included Christine Whelchel, a piano teacher and church organist from Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Patrick Byrnett, a school administrator from Alexandria, Virginia. Both were looking to stop the physician from Richmond, Virginia’s momentum.
Did Henry Rozycki win Jeopardy! tonight?
With $17,000, Henry Rozycki entered “Final Jeopardy” trailing Christine Whelchel by $2,000. Patrick Byrnett wasn’t completely out of it at $8,000, but it looked to be a two-horse race at the end of “Double Jeopardy.” The final category was “Play Characters.”
In fact, it stayed even after “Final Jeopardy.” Rozycki went all-in with a $17,000 wager. Meanwhile, Whelchel bet $15,000. Both contestants hit on the final clue, resulting in a tie at $34,000.
That set off a tiebreaker, with host Ken Jennings delivering a final clue in the category “Flowers.” Whelchel buzzed in first, answered correctly, and became the new Jeopardy! champion.
What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy question?
