Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live new tonight, February 5, 2022?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live has aired back-to-back-to-back new episodes to start 2022. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight on NBC?
The past three weeks have seen three first-time hosts take the stage in Studio 8H. That continued a trend we’ve seen since Saturday Night Live season 47 premiered back in October.
However, fans will have to wait to see who’s next in line to host SNL. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
Instead, NBC will air its Olympic coverage in primetime beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Winter Olympics on NBC puts late-night TV shows, including The Tonight Show, Late Night, and Saturday Night Live, on hiatus.
Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live next?
The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing are scheduled to close out on February 20. So, Saturday Night Live audiences shouldn’t expect any new episodes before then.
The next brand new episode of Saturday Night Live airs on February 26. John Mulaney will host for the fifth time. He’ll be joined by musical guest LCD Soundsystem.
Mulaney is always a must-see host when he returns to SNL. But this time around could be the biggest night of his five hosting gigs. The stand-up and former SNL writer saw his private life go public last year following a rehab visit, divorce, relationship with Olivia Munn, and the birth of their son.
Last year on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Mulaney recalled how it was around the time he hosted SNL that his drug issues worsened, leading to an intervention and his road to recovery.
Given Mulaney’s willingness to discuss those issues publicly, his monologue on February 26 could do the same. That should bring in an even wider audience for someone already considered one of SNL’s best hosts.
